The Changing Times of Recruitment

The ever changing economy has lead to rapid changes in the way the workforce is employed, with the average job mobility being nearly three in a decade in Australia![1] The high turnover of staff has lead to massive challenges to the employer’s ability to train and retain their much needed staff. So, when an increase in production or demand is required or a fill in placement is needed, Labour/Temp Hire recruiting is a must. The reality today is businesses need to be able to have multiple options in catering for staffing needs without over committing to the costs involved.

The costs in finding new staff

The initial question of placing someone on is; “What is your goal?” The question of what is your goal addresses the assignment as one of two options; short term or long term. Both could cost essentially the same amount of time, risk and money. The phone calls, the screening and interviews could just be downright impractical for a short term assignment. When you add up the value of business operations the question of can I afford recruiting someone for a temporary role should come into play.

The advantages of temporary work hire

The needless effort on the employer’s side with a simple phone call can start the ball rolling on having the perfect temp worker. With no need to work out fair work pay, super, insurances, payroll etc. The roll of a recruitment agency is to find suitable candidates for either short or long term assignments that bring satisfactory results for all parties involved. The times are changing when it comes to employment, with commitment on all sides shortening the average placement of a worker for a business. The benefit of a temp worker is flexibility of the business to cater for changes in staff and demand whilst also not short cutting on the expectations required for the assignment at hand.

Recruitment agencies have potentially thousands of candidates to choose from to best suit your position to be filled giving a service that a local business just cannot cater for especially on short notice. With temp work agency often bringing staff with an expectation that work may be short term with no unclear expectations and still attracting many candidates in ways a local business cannot with a short term role. The great thing about the “try-before-you-buy” approach is that if the temp candidate does work out extraordinarily well, simply ask for them to be transferred to a permanent placement. If not there is no expectation of continuation of employment. The temp workers option is a reassuring option for a modern business looking to approach the rapidly changing economy without over committing to potentially the biggest investment of any business with that being the staff.

So consider the next recruitment approach in a strategic delegate approach by using the services of a temp hire agency to cater for both temp and permanent placement through the hassle free and commitment free approach of try before you buy temp hire.
